I was so excited when I stumbled upon an antique piano stool at a garage sale. It was dusty, worn out, but full of potential. I loved that it was solid wood with a swivel top and had eagle claw legs with a glass ball base. The following picture shows how it looked when I bought it, after sanding and staining, and then the finished project after a coat of polyurethane. So come along and I will share with you, step by step, my restoration adventure!
Step 1: Gathering Your Arsenal
Restoring an antique piano stool is no easy feat, but with the right tools, you're halfway there. Gather sandpaper, wood stain, polyurethane, glue (to reattach the loose clawfoot base), and a sprinkle of patience. You might also need a magic wand for good measure (just kidding... or am I?).
Step 2: Sanding Away Imperfection
Channel your inner artist and sand away the imperfections on the wood. Embrace the beauty of transformation, much like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. Smooth out the rough edges and watch as your piano stool begins to glow with newfound radiance.

Step 3: Stain and Finishing Touches
After staining the wood, I applied a layer of polyurethane to make it shine. The claw feet were all loose and had to be glued in place to keep the stool stable.
Step 4: Show Off Your Masterpiece
With the work complete, it's time to showcase your newly restored treasure! I had stained the stool to match our old piano that was once my grandmas. I loved how it turned out and was grateful for the fun find.
